Le Bas des Teurons

Le Bas des Teurons sits on the Côte de Beaune within the commune of Beaune, positioned as the lower section of the broader Teurons area. The climat lies adjacent to Les Teurons, one of Beaune's better-known Premier Cru sites. The terrain here is comparatively flatter and more accessible than the upper sections of the Teurons zone. The east-south-east aspect allows for consistent morning sun exposure, which aids even ripening of Pinot Noir across the growing season.

The soils of Le Bas des Teurons are a mixture of limestone, clay, and silt, a combination typical of the Côte de Beaune and well suited to Pinot Noir. Limestone provides drainage and contributes mineral structure to the wines, while clay retains enough moisture to support the vine through drier periods. The continental climate of Burgundy, with its cold winters and warm summers, defines the growing season here, making vintage variation a meaningful factor in the character of each wine.

Only red wine from Pinot Noir is produced under the Le Bas des Teurons Premier Cru designation. The wines are characterised by red fruit aromas with an elegant, balanced profile, consistent with the style expected from Beaune's Premier Cru vineyards. Domaine des Croix and Domaine Pierrick Bouley are among the producers with holdings in this climat. The site may also appear on labels as Clos du Bas des Teurons, indicating a walled or enclosed parcel within the broader climat.
