Location and Setting
La Mignotte sits at the base of a geological depression between the hillsides of Les Longes and Les Mondes Rondes, roughly one kilometer northwest of Beaune town. At just 2.4 hectares, it is one of the smaller premier cru lieux-dits in the Beaune appellation. The southerly aspect provides good sun exposure across the growing season, a meaningful advantage in Burgundy's continental climate with its cool winters and variable summers.

Soils and Viticulture
The soils at La Mignotte are characterised by brown clay, which retains moisture well and contributes to the supple texture noted in wines from this climat. Brown clay soils in Beaune tend to produce Pinot Noir that leans toward roundness and approachability rather than austerity. The entire climat is planted to Pinot Noir, consistent with the Beaune premier cru norm for red wine production.
- Brown clay soils are the dominant soil type
- Clay retains moisture and supports supple, round tannin structure
- Pinot Noir is the sole grape variety planted
Historical Significance and Ownership
La Mignotte has strong historical ties to the Hospices de Beaune, the charitable institution founded in 1443 that has accumulated vineyard holdings across the Côte de Beaune through centuries of donations. Hospices de Beaune bottles production from La Mignotte under its Cuvée Dames Hospitalières, one of the named cuvées sold at the famous annual November auction. In 2016, Domaine Georges Noellat, a respected Vosne-Romanée producer, acquired monopole status over the climat, making them the sole private owner of the entire parcel at that time.

La Mignotte produces red wines described as elegant, light, supple, and floral. These characteristics are consistent with the south-facing brown clay combination, which tends to yield accessible, perfumed Pinot Noir rather than structured, tannic expressions. The floral character is a hallmark often associated with Beaune premier crus that sit at slightly lower elevations with warmer soil types. These are wines that reward early to mid-term drinking without demanding extended cellaring.
Elegant, light-bodied Pinot Noir with floral aromatics, supple tannins, and a soft, approachable texture. Expect red berry fruit, violet notes, and gentle earthy undertones typical of Beaune premier cru.
