History and Founding
Dr Tom Cullity established Vasse Felix in 1967, planting the first commercial vineyard in what would become one of Australia's most celebrated wine regions. The first vintage in 1971 proved difficult, with bunch rot and bird damage challenging production. By 1972, the estate found its footing, with Cabernet Sauvignon and Riesling earning gold medals. The Holmes Γ Court family acquired Vasse Felix in 1987, with Paul Holmes Γ Court serving as current owner and CEO. Virginia Willcock has been Chief Winemaker since 2006, guiding the estate's quality-led approach.

Vineyards and Terroir
Vasse Felix farms 140 hectares across four sites in Margaret River: the Wilyabrup Home Vineyard, Gnarawary, Karridale, and Wallcliffe. The Home Vineyard at Wilyabrup sits at 80 to 110 metres elevation on gravelly loam over clay, with lateritic gravel and ironstone laterite subsoils. Margaret River's Mediterranean climate brings mild wet winters and warm dry summers, moderated by cool maritime breezes from both the Indian Ocean and Southern Ocean. These conditions produce the restrained, structured wines for which the estate is known.

- Elevation of 80-110 m at Wilyabrup provides drainage and temperature moderation

- Original 1967 plantings at the Home Vineyard remain productive today
