History and Heritage
Sebastiano de Corato founded Rivera in the late 1940s with the ambition of realizing the full viticultural potential of the Castel del Monte area. The winery played a central role in establishing the Castel del Monte DOC designation in 1971 and was instrumental in advocating for the DOCG status achieved in 2001. Today, fourth-generation family members Sebastiano and Marco de Corato manage the estate, carrying forward a legacy of more than 70 documented vintages.

Location and Terroir
Rivera sits in the Murgia hills near Andria in Apulia, southern Italy. The estate covers 150 hectares, with vineyards planted between 160 and 350 meters above sea level. Soils are predominantly limestone tufaceous and calcareous, providing excellent drainage and mineral character. A Mediterranean climate prevails, moderated by northerly Adriatic winds that preserve freshness and acidity in the fruit.

Grapes and Wine Styles
Rivera grows a broad range of varieties across its 70 hectares of vineyards. Indigenous southern Italian grapes including Nero di Troia, Bombino Nero, Bombino Bianco, Negroamaro, Aglianico, Montepulciano, and Moscato di Trani are planted alongside international varieties Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Primitivo. Rivera was the first producer to introduce Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc to Apulia. The wine range spans fresh and delicate whites, structured reds, rosés, and dessert wines.
