Pierre Péters is a grower-Champagne estate (propriétaire-récoltant) based in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, with the Péters family in the village since 1858. The estate is currently run by Rodolphe Péters, the sixth-generation farmer, who joined the house in 2007 and took control in 2008. Pierre Péters has produced Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs since 1919 and is widely regarded as a benchmark blanc de blancs grower across the Côte des Blancs. Cuvée Spéciale Les Chétillons, drawn from three old-vine parcels in the Les Chétillons lieu-dit at Le Mesnil-sur-Oger totaling about 2.5 hectares, is one of the region's celebrated Le Mesnil cuvées. The Réserve Oubliée perpetual reserve and the Cuvée Millésime L'Esprit and L'Étonnant Monsieur Victor releases extend the prestige range. 📜A Le Mesnil Family Since 1858

The Péters family has been present in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger since 1858, when Gaspar Péters, a native of Luxembourg, married into a Le Mesnil vineyard-owning family and began with about two hectares. In 1919, Camille Péters was among the first growers to harvest, handle, and sell Champagne under his own name, with the brand registered as Camille Péters in 1929. After Camille's death in 1944, Pierre took over and gave his name to the house; the first vintage under the Pierre Péters brand followed. François Péters led the estate from 1967 until 2008, growing the holdings. Rodolphe Péters joined the family house in 2007 and took control of the estate in 2008. As the sixth-generation farmer and fourth-generation winemaker, he has built Pierre Péters into a benchmark Côte des Blancs grower, refining the range across Cuvée Spéciale Les Chétillons, the Réserve Oubliée, and a series of vintage cuvées.

🍇Côte des Blancs Vineyard Holdings

Pierre Péters farms just over 19 hectares of estate vineyards, located primarily in the Côte des Blancs across the villages of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Cramant, and Avize, with the concentration in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oger. The holdings include the prized Les Chétillons lieu-dit in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, where the family owns three old-vine Chardonnay parcels totaling about 2.5 hectares, acquired by Camille Péters in 1930. The estate is Chardonnay-focused, with its Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs identity rooted in the chalk of the Côte des Blancs; a small block of Pinot Noir on the estate sits outside the Blanc de Blancs range.

🏰Cuvée Spéciale Les Chétillons

Cuvée Spéciale Les Chétillons is Pierre Péters' single-lieu-dit prestige cuvée, drawn from three old-vine Chardonnay parcels in the Les Chétillons lieu-dit at Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, totaling about 2.5 hectares. The parcels are vinified separately and then blended into the single-lieu-dit cuvée, first produced in 1971. It is a 100% Grand Cru Chardonnay vintage cuvée, produced exclusively from a single harvest year and only in the finest vintages, finished at a low dosage of roughly 3.5 to 4.5 g/L. The vines in the Les Chétillons parcels are notably old, the oldest planted in 1936, ranging from about 45 to 84 years of age. The family's farming of the parcels since the 1930 acquisition gives the cuvée a continuity of expression rare in modern Champagne single-vineyard work, and it stands as one of the Côte des Blancs' benchmark Le Mesnil cuvées.

  • Single-lieu-dit cuvée from three Les Chétillons parcels (~2.5 ha), first produced 1971
  • 100% Grand Cru Chardonnay, vintage-only, declared only in the finest years
  • Low dosage of roughly 3.5 to 4.5 g/L
  • Old vines ranging from about 45 to 84 years (oldest planted 1936)

🔁Réserve Oubliée Perpetual Reserve

Réserve Oubliée is Pierre Péters' perpetual-reserve (solera-style) cuvée, with the perpetual reserve dating from 1988. Each year a portion of the reserve is drawn off and replaced with new base wine, producing a multi-vintage assemblage that accumulates depth from every year since 1988, a solera now more than 25 vintages deep. In essence it is the house's Cuvée de Réserve aged longer in barrel, a Rodolphe-era development of the estate's perpetual-reserve system. It is released as a Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs drawn from the Le Mesnil and Oger Chardonnay sources, carrying decades of accumulated reserve complexity.

  • Perpetual-reserve (solera-style) cuvée dating from 1988
  • Portion drawn off annually for bottling, replaced with new base wine
  • Accumulates depth from every vintage since 1988; solera 25+ vintages deep
  • Essentially the Cuvée de Réserve aged longer in barrel; a Rodolphe-era development

🍷Range and Critical Position

Beyond Cuvée Spéciale Les Chétillons and Réserve Oubliée, the Pierre Péters range begins with the Cuvée de Réserve Brut Grand Cru, the house's multi-vintage Blanc de Blancs that blends a single base vintage with about half its volume from the perpetual reserve. The Cuvée Millésime L'Esprit is a vintage cuvée made only in the best years, a 100% Grand Cru Chardonnay drawn from named single-vineyard lieux-dits across Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Avize, and Cramant. L'Étonnant Monsieur Victor is a small-production prestige cuvée, a multi-vintage blend combining the best vats of the perpetual reserve (running from 1988) with the latest-harvest Chétillons fruit in near-equal parts, aged six years under cork, its labels personalized by Rodolphe's son Victor. The Brut Rosé for Albane, named for Rodolphe's daughter, is built on a Chardonnay base with about 45% saignée rosé added from a partner grower, the one cuvée that steps outside the Blanc de Blancs range. Critically, Pierre Péters is treated as a benchmark blanc de blancs grower of the Côte des Blancs, with allocation-based distribution preserving its prestige tier.
