🍷Moulin-à-Vent Since 2000

Olivier Merlin extended into Beaujolais cru Gamay from 2000, when the estate began work in Moulin-à-Vent. The signature parcel is La Rochelle, a 0.95-hectare plot purchased in 2006 in the heart of the appellation. La Rochelle is worked at unusually high density (12,000 gobelet-pruned vines per hectare) and is always ploughed by horse. The estate also bottles a village-level Moulin-à-Vent. The wines are made under Merlin house protocols adapted for Gamay: indigenous-yeast fermentations, whole-cluster work, and barrel élevage that retains the variety's red-fruit aromatics while building structure.
