History and Family Legacy
Michel Muré established the domaine in Westhalten in 1650, making it one of the most historically significant family producers in Alsace. Twelve uninterrupted generations later, the estate remains entirely family-owned. In 1966 the domaine relocated to Rouffach, and the pivotal acquisition of the Clos Saint Landelin in 1935 by Alfred Muré set the foundation for the estate's modern identity. René Muré, the 11th generation, took over in 1976. Today his children Véronique, who holds an agronomy degree, and Thomas, trained in viticulture and oenology, represent the 12th generation.

Terroir and Vineyard
The domaine farms 28 hectares in southern Alsace near Rouffach, positioned on a south-facing limestone hillside sheltered by the Vosges mountains. The climate here is hot and dry, with approximately 500mm of annual precipitation and exceptional sunshine levels. Soils vary across the estate and include limestone, clay-limestone, calcareous sandstone, and marl-limestone. The nearby Ohmbach river generates morning mists that favor Botrytis cinerea development in the Clos Saint Landelin, enabling the production of noble rot sweet wines. Vines are planted densely at around 10,000 plants per hectare.

Organic and Biodynamic Farming
Domaine Muré converted to certified organic viticulture in 1999 under Ecocert certification, then achieved Demeter biodynamic certification in 2013. All 28 hectares are farmed without synthetic pesticides or herbicides, and all harvesting is done entirely by hand with manual sorting in the vineyard. Cellar intervention is kept to a minimum, with fermentation relying on indigenous yeasts. Low yields between 30 and 50 hectoliters per hectare ensure concentration and quality across the range.
