History and Family
Marc Colin founded the domaine in 1970 alongside his wife Michèle, beginning with 6 hectares inherited from the Colin and Ponavoy families. Some parcels in the estate's portfolio have been family-owned for over 100 years. Son Pierre-Yves took over winemaking in 1995 before departing in 2005 to establish his own celebrated domaine, Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey. Today, Damien Colin leads winemaking while sister Caroline manages sales and the business, a partnership that has been in place since the late 1990s and early 2000s. Another son, Joseph Colin, launched his own separate domaine in 2017.

Vineyards and Appellations
The domaine's home base sits in Saint-Aubin, a commune on the Côte de Beaune prized for value-driven Premier Cru whites. At the summit of the quality pyramid, the domaine holds parcels in both Montrachet and Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru. Viticulture and Soils
The domaine farms clay-limestone and limestone-rich soils with significant white marls and stony patches, typical of the Côte de Beaune's geology. These well-drained, mineral-rich substrates are a primary driver of the estate's signature style. Sustainable viticulture is practiced across the holdings, with an organic conversion currently underway. The temperate continental Burgundy climate shapes the growing season, delivering the cool nights and warm days that build acidity and aromatic complexity in Chardonnay.
- Soils are clay-limestone, white marls, and stony limestone-rich terrain
- Sustainable viticulture practiced; organic conversion in progress
- Temperate continental climate with cool nights supporting natural acidity
- Terroir expression and finesse are guiding principles in the vineyard

Domaine Marc Colin et Fils is firmly a white wine specialist, with 70% of production devoted to Chardonnay-based wines. Winemaking is traditional and restrained: wild yeast fermentations, minimal lees stirring, and careful use of new oak (10-30% depending on the cuvée) preserve freshness and allow terroir to lead. The result is a house style defined by minerality, crispness, and elegance rather than weight or oak influence. Aligoté and Pinot Noir round out the portfolio, with red wines accounting for the remaining 30% of output.
- Wild yeast fermentation and minimal lees stirring across the range
- New oak limited to 10-30% per cuvée to protect freshness and terroir expression
- 70% white wine, 30% red; Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Aligoté produced
- Style hallmarks: minerality, crispness, and finesse
Mineral-driven, crisp Chardonnay with restrained oak, citrus and stone fruit character, fine acidity, and a clean, elegant finish. Premier Cru and Grand Cru wines show greater complexity and textural depth while maintaining the domaine's signature freshness.
