The winery takes its name from Orbelus, the Thracian name for Mount Pirin, acknowledging a region where the Thracians cultivated vines and valued the land for winemaking in antiquity. Since those early plantings, Orbelus has grown to become a defining estate in modern Bulgarian wine, earning its place as the country's pioneer in certified organic viticulture.
