History and Family
Mario Minuto founded Moccagatta in 1952, naming the estate after the farmhouse where the vineyards are located. Today, brothers Franco and Sergio Minuto run the property, with the next generation, Stefano and Martina, continuing the family legacy. This continuity across three generations reflects the estate's deep roots in the Barbaresco community.

Vineyards and Terroir
Moccagatta farms 12 hectares of estate vineyards in the Langhe subregion of Barbaresco, with elevations ranging from 210 to 300 meters above sea level. The soils are a mix of limestone-marl, sand, and blue and grey limestone, the classic Barbaresco terroir that gives Nebbiolo its characteristic minerality and structure. Seven of the 12 hectares are planted to Nebbiolo, with the remainder divided between Barbera, Dolcetto, and Chardonnay.
