History and Origins
Viticoltori De Conciliis was founded in 1996 when Bruno De Conciliis persuaded his father to pivot the family's existing poultry business into winemaking. The estate became a pioneer in establishing organic and biodynamic production standards within Cilento, a region located approximately 30 miles south of the Amalfi Coast that had historically been economically disadvantaged and focused on olive oil production. Bruno De Conciliis left the winery in 2018 to found his own project, Tempa di Zoè, while siblings Paola and Luigi De Conciliis continue to operate the estate alongside winemaker Giovanni Cuni.

Terroir and Viticulture
The estate's 28 hectares sit on hilltops overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, benefiting from a warm Mediterranean climate tempered by cool sea breezes at night. Soils consist primarily of sandstone and limestone rich in marine minerals and fossils, with marl and quartz sandstone on the steeper slopes. Cilento's terroir is notably non-volcanic, a direct consequence of the region being geologically underwater during the Vesuvian eruptions that shaped much of Campania, making it distinct from zones such as Taurasi or Campi Flegrei.
- Sandstone and limestone soils with marine minerals and fossils
- Steep slopes feature marl and quartz sandstone
- Non-volcanic terroir: Cilento was underwater during Vesuvian eruptions
- Warm Mediterranean climate moderated by nightly sea breezes
Grapes and Wine Style
The estate grows Aglianico, Fiano, Aglianicone, Falanghina, Primitivo, Grenache, and Cabernet Franc across its 28 hectares. Aglianico drives the flagship red wines, which are full-bodied and fruit-forward, while Fiano produces mineral, complex whites. The estate also makes a sparkling metodo classico called Selim, a blend of Fiano and Aglianico that holds the distinction of being the first sparkling wine ever produced in Campania. The name Selim is Miles spelled backwards, a nod to Miles Davis. Approximately 12 wines are produced annually, totaling around 12,500 cases.
- Aglianico is the focus grape for full-bodied, fruit-forward reds
- Fiano yields mineral, complex whites under the Donnaluna label
- Selim metodo classico (Fiano and Aglianico) is Campania's first sparkling wine
- Naima (100% Aglianico) named after a John Coltrane composition
