No Girls
A female-led Walla Walla project born in a former brothel, producing focused Syrah, Grenache, and Tempranillo from the La Paciencia Vineyard.
No Girls is a wine label within Christophe Baron's Bionic Wines portfolio, founded as a collaboration between Baron and former general manager Trevor Dorland. The name comes from the words 'No Girls' found painted on the wall of a former brothel Baron purchased in 2002, and the label itself is a photograph of that building. The first vintage was produced in 2008, and since 2011, winemaking has been led entirely by the estate's female vigneronnes, first by the founding winemaker and now by Karin Gasparotti. All grapes come from the La Paciencia Vineyard in the Walla Walla Valley, where tightly spaced vines are planted on an angle in the valley's distinctive cobblestone soils.
- First vintage produced in 2008; co-produced by Christophe Baron and later handed to the estate's dedicated female winemaking team from 2011 onward
- All grapes sourced from the La Paciencia Vineyard, named for the Spanish word for 'patience,' reflecting the project's ten-year gestation
- Current wines include Syrah, Grenache, Tempranillo, and the Double Lucky #8 blend (introduced with the 2017 vintage)
- Karin Gasparotti serves as resident vigneronne with full creative control over all aspects of wine production
- The label is an actual photograph of the former brothel where 'No Girls' was discovered painted on the wall
Origin Story
In 2002, Christophe Baron purchased a building in Walla Walla that had once served as a brothel. Inside, he noticed the words 'No Girls' painted on the wall. The discovery stuck with him and eventually became the name and ethos of an entirely new wine project. The brand was conceived as a collaboration between Baron and Trevor Dorland, Cayuse's former general manager, but it took nearly a decade of planning before the first vintage was released in 2008. The project was designed from the start to challenge the historically male-dominated wine industry by putting women at the center of every aspect of production.
- Baron discovered the words 'No Girls' painted inside a former Walla Walla brothel he purchased in 2002
- The wine label is an actual photograph of the building's exterior
- The first vintage was co-produced by Baron in 2008 after ten years of planning
- From 2011 onward, winemaking has been led exclusively by the estate's female vigneronnes
La Paciencia Vineyard
All No Girls wines come from a single source: La Paciencia Vineyard, located in the Walla Walla Valley. The vineyard takes its name from the Spanish word for 'patience,' a fitting tribute to the decade Baron spent developing the project before its first release. The vines are tightly spaced and planted on an angle, giving the site a distinctive visual character and allowing for extremely low yields. The vineyard sits in the cobblestone soils that define the Walla Walla Valley's Rocks District, with well-drained basalt gravels that force deep root penetration and concentrate flavors.
- La Paciencia is the sole vineyard source for all No Girls wines
- Vines are tightly spaced and planted at an angle, unique among Walla Walla plantings
- The cobblestone soils are well-drained basalt gravels characteristic of the Rocks District
- Low yields and deep root penetration contribute to the wines' concentration and mineral character
Wines and Winemaking
The No Girls lineup includes three varietal wines and one blend. Syrah was the original bottling from 2008. Grenache and Tempranillo were added later, with the Tempranillo first appearing in 2012. The Double Lucky #8 is a proprietary blend of Syrah, Grenache, and Tempranillo, introduced with the 2017 vintage and made from declassified fruit across the Bionic Wines vineyard collection. Winemaking follows the same minimal-intervention philosophy as the broader Bionic portfolio: native yeast fermentation, whole-cluster inclusion, aging in neutral oak, and no fining or filtering.
- Syrah La Paciencia Vineyard: the original No Girls bottling, first vintage 2008
- Grenache La Paciencia Vineyard: added to the lineup for its focused red-fruit purity
- Tempranillo La Paciencia Vineyard: first released from the 2012 vintage
- Double Lucky #8: Syrah, Grenache, and Tempranillo blend introduced in 2017

Look it up →Female-Led Winemaking
No Girls was designed to champion women in an industry where they were historically excluded from critical stages of production. After Baron co-produced the inaugural 2008 vintage, he gave full creative control to the estate's female vigneronnes starting with the 2011 vintage. The winemaker has carte blanche over all decisions from vineyard management through bottling. Karin Gasparotti currently serves as resident vigneronne for No Girls and was also named resident vigneronne for the broader Bionic Wines portfolio in late 2024, succeeding Elizabeth Bourcier.
- Winemaking has been entirely female-led since the 2011 vintage
- Karin Gasparotti holds full creative autonomy over vineyard and cellar decisions
- Gasparotti was elevated to resident vigneronne for the entire Bionic portfolio in late 2024
- The project's mission explicitly champions women's strength and contributions to winemaking
