📜History and Mascarello Acquisition

Monprivato has been a recognized vineyard site since at least the 19th century, mentioned in Castiglione Falletto land records as a single-named vineyard parcel from the 1850s onward. The Giuseppe Mascarello family began acquiring Monprivato parcels in the early 20th century, with founder Giuseppe Mascarello (the original Giuseppe, after whom the firm is named) purchasing the first parcels in the 1900s and 1910s. The family slowly consolidated the vineyard over subsequent generations: Giuseppe's son Maurizio Mascarello continued the acquisition through the mid-20th century, and Maurizio's son Mauro completed the full monopole consolidation in the 1980s, after which the entire 6.4-hectare amphitheater has remained under single Mascarello management.
