The estate has been in the Ogereau family for four generations, currently run by Vincent Ogereau and his son Emmanuel, who joined in 2014. Approximately 24 hectares are spread across the Layon slopes and surrounding Anjou parcels, with bottlings under Anjou Blanc, Anjou-Villages, Coteaux du Layon Saint-Lambert, and a small Savennières holding acquired in the 2010s. Four Generations at Saint-Lambert
The Ogereau family has worked vines around Saint-Lambert-du-Lattay for four generations. Vincent Ogereau took the lead from his father in the 1980s and built the estate's reputation for serious Coteaux du Layon production through the 1990s and 2000s. His son Emmanuel joined the family business in 2014, bringing experience from work at other Loire estates, and now leads viticulture alongside his father. Saint-Lambert-du-Lattay is one of the six named communes recognized within Coteaux du Layon (alongside Faye, Beaulieu, Rochefort, Saint-Aubin, and Rablay), and Ogereau bottlings carry the village name on the label as a marker of provenance.

Layon Slopes and Anjou Holdings
The estate's 24 hectares span the schist and gravel slopes of the Layon valley around Saint-Lambert, plus adjacent Anjou parcels on the schist and limestone of the broader Anjou-Saumur sub-region. The Layon parcels are positioned to catch the morning mists rising from the river in autumn, the microclimate that supports Botrytis cinerea development on the Chenin Blanc. A small Savennières holding acquired in the 2010s adds the dry Chenin schist tradition to the estate's range, and gives Ogereau a presence in three of the principal Anjou Chenin AOCs: Anjou Blanc, Layon, and Savennières.

Organic Farming Since 2014
The estate converted to organic farming during the early 2010s and earned Ecocert certification in 2014, coinciding with Emmanuel's arrival. Biodynamic preparations 500 and 501 are applied across the principal Chenin Blanc parcels, though the estate is not Demeter certified. Yields are kept moderate, particularly on the parcels destined for the sweet flagship bottlings. The Layon Saint-Lambert wines come from multiple tries successives during the harvest, with botrytized fruit selected for the top cuvées. Vincent and Emmanuel have progressively reduced sulfur additions across the range and have introduced a small line of natural-leaning bottlings alongside the classical core.

Look it up →Sweet and Dry Chenin Range
The estate's sweet range centers on Coteaux du Layon Saint-Lambert, with multiple cuvées at different concentration levels: the classical Layon Saint-Lambert, the more concentrated Prestige bottling, and occasional Sélection de Grains Nobles cuvées in great vintages. The dry side spans Anjou Blanc (Le Petit Cabri, Côte de la Houssaye) and the Savennières acquired in the 2010s. The Anjou-Villages reds, from Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon planted on schist around the property, complete the range. The Ogereau house style across the board is precise, mineral, and structured rather than rich or showy, distinguishing the estate from more lush peer styles.

Why It Matters
Domaine Ogereau is one of the four or five reference estates of the modern Layon revival, working alongside Patrick Baudouin, Mark Angeli, Domaine Pithon, and the resurgent Domaine Belargus. The estate's particular contribution is sustained excellence at Saint-Lambert-du-Lattay, the most prominent of the six Layon named communes, and the willingness to push the dry Anjou Blanc side of the range as seriously as the sweet flagship. The acquisition of Savennières parcels in the 2010s positions the estate as one of the few producers working across both the Anjou Noir schist Chenin traditions of dry Savennières and sweet Layon, giving it an unusual vantage on the full Chenin Blanc spectrum of the Anjou Noir.
