History and Family Legacy
Emmanuel Boiron established the domaine in 1860, and it has remained in family hands for six generations. The estate originally produced wines under the name Clos Chantemerle, a label first used in 1936 when Châteauneuf-du-Pape became France's first AOC wine. In 1966, both the name changed to Bosquet des Papes and the first commercial bottling took place under Maurice Boiron. Nicolas Boiron, the fifth-generation owner, took over in 2004 and runs the estate today alongside his wife Jeanne-Claire.

Winemaking Philosophy
Bosquet des Papes centers its philosophy on producing wines built for long-term cellaring. Traditional methods define production throughout: harvesting is done by hand, fermentation takes place in thermoregulated concrete vats using whole-berry techniques for most wines, and aging lasts 12-18 months in foudres and demi-muids. The domaine's average vine age of approximately 50 years contributes concentration and complexity, with the flagship cuvée drawing from vines aged 70-100 years.
- Manual harvesting and whole-berry fermentation in most cuvées
- Thermoregulated concrete vats used for fermentation
- Aged 12-18 months in foudres and demi-muids
- Philosophy targets wines for laying down rather than early drinking
